eConsultancy has a new report out that estimates that affiliate marketing in the UK accounted for about 10% of all online sales in 2008 which amounted to $43.8bn. The Affiliate Marketing Buyer’s Guide 2009 quotes figures from IMRG and CapGemini and calculates that some $227m was paid in commissions and fees to publishers and networks in the UK last year.

eConsultancy has also identified what they are describing as key market trends for 2009, including:

  • CPA advertising is going to continue to grow;
  • More agencies will be offering affiliate marketing services to clients;
  • Coupons and cash-back offers are going to be strong runners;
  • There will be an ongoing push for increased transparency.
