It’s the last week of January and the Super Bowl XLII kick-off is only a couple days away. Whether or not you have a vested interest in the Patriots clearing their last hurdle to complete the undefeated season or are jumping on the Giants bandwagon is not the point. The most important thing is that you not only watch the game which is expected to be the largest viewing audience in Super Bowl history – 140 million – but that you stay glued to the tube while you lay witness to the latest in advertising technology at a cost of – hold your breath – $2.7 million dollars for a 30 second spot!

I was browsing around the net to get some of the scoop on what we may or may not see during the big game.

GoDaddy.com is showing one of the ads it submitted that was banned from airing on Super Sunday. I wonder how much traffic having a banned Super Bowl ad will drive to GoDaddy’s website? This year advertisers like Frito-Lay are embracing Web 2.0 and are driving viewers to its website to vote and share feedback on the ads it is considering for the Super Bowl. Here are a couple more related articles from the Wall Street Journal and CNN that touch on interactive marketing and Super Bowl advertising.

So, I’m wondering, do you solicit feedback from your users and customers about the types of ads you are considering for Revenue? If I recall correctly, we had a new advertiser recently post the ad creative it was considering for Revenue on the eWealth forum and the company made its decision on which ad to run based on a democratic vote within the forum. We’ll have to follow up with the advertiser to see how the process worked for them.

If you weren’t able to make the creative deadline for your Super Bowl ad and have some budget left over, we are happy to help. Revenue is currently winding down the allocation of ad placements in the March/April edition of the magazine, which has bonus distribution that includes the Ad:Tech San Francisco conference in April. Contact our ad sales team today to request a 2008 Media Kit and ad rate card. Ad placement deadlines are coming up on February 8.

For those who are in San Francisco this week for the LinkShare Summit, we will have members our advertising team attending the event and look forward to re-connecting with you.
