Google Sues Multiple Advertisers by Chris Trayhorn, Publisher of mThink Blue Book, September 22, 2010 Google has filed a civil lawsuit against multiple advertisers who they claim have deliberately broken Google’s rules. The suit is focused on online pharmacies, and the tone of Google’s blog post indicates that they have become tired of developing ever more sophisticated policies and systems. In Google’s words: Litigation of this kind should act as a serious deterrent to anyone thinking about circumventing our policies to advertise illegally on Google. As we identify additional bad actors, we will add them to the lawsuit. Rogue pharmacies are bad for our users, for legitimate online pharmacies and for the entire e-commerce industry—so we are going to keep investing time and money to stop these kinds of harmful practices. The new approach is simpler than the arms-race of technology safeguards, and appears to consist of, “SUE THE B*STARDS!” although this is not quite the language employed by Google’s Litigation Counsel, Michael Zwibelman.
