Revenue Performance helped a dear friend a couple of weeks ago by asking our readers to help sign a petition to allow his adopted Nepalese orphan into the US. Many of you did. We realize this made us feel really good, so every once in a while, when we run across a cause we believe in, we will blog about it in the hope to help raise awareness amongst our community. And we promise not to ask for money… just your support.

Because we care about our environment, we’re focusing next on the Belo Monte Dam in the rainforest of Brazil. The building of this dam will irrevocably change the course of the river, and will displace 25,000 indigenous people.

Sign the petition to halt the building of the damn.

Several organizations and people are raising awareness for this cause. James Cameron and Sigourney Weaver have joined the Amazon Watch cause, moving beyond Avatar to a real-life potential environmental disaster. The parallels between the two are firgtening.

Sigourney Weaver Narrates New Google Earth Animation on Belo Monte Dam:

We are at a critical time in the campaign to stop the Belo Monte Dam and we ask the you to help take action now to defend the Amazon and support indigenous peoples’ rights.

Please join us by signing the petition to the Brazilian government today.
