I am the chief information officer for Presbyterian Hospital and an adjunct professor for University of La Verne and teach in the master's in health administration program. For several years, one of the courses that I have been teaching is Clinical and Financial Information Systems. As you are undoubtedly aware, these two industries are each going through their own rapid evolutions. The combination of the two industries - and trying to manage the resulting dynamics - creates a truly exciting opportunity.

It is this excitement that I bring to the class setting and attempt to pass on to my students. My biggest challenge with this course has been to find a textbook that is current in its presentation of our health care industry as well as the technology industry.
