United Technologies recently approached Oneupweb looking to increase the awareness of its Hamilton Sundstrand subsidiary site, Space Systems International.

Client

Hamilton Sundstrand / United Technologies

History

Hamilton Sundstrand's Space System International is the world's leading developer and manufacturer of environmental control and life support systems, thermal control systems, extravehicular Mobility Units (EMU space suits), undersea auxiliary and oxygen generation equipment and commercial hydrogen generation equipment. HSSSI also provides much of the life support and thermal control on the Space Shuttle Orbiter. Many of the elements of the International Space Station (ISS), including US, European, and Japanese segments and modules, are outfitted with their hardware.

Objective

United Technologies recently approached Oneupweb looking to increase the awareness of its Hamilton Sundstrand subsidiary site, Space Systems International. The idea was to drive traffic to the web site and generate leads for the sale of their space suits, vehicles and planetary habitat equipment. After consulting with company contact Mary Fiedler, Oneupweb was able to identify both short and long-term goals for HSSSI. Two of the most important, were to convert site visitors into informed new customers and increase the awareness of their latest project, E-Chem by delivering targeted traffic to the newly created page inside the site.

Solution

Understanding where each client stands in the marketplace is always the first step in a successful campaign. Oneupweb created a plan of action that began with the analysis of Space System International's direct competition. Later, we worked directly with Mary to identify the best possible keywords and phrases that describe the business and products. These key terms and phrases became the building blocks for the redevelopment of the HSSSI site. Also, as a special project for HSSSI, Oneupweb created a targeted keyterm plan for the introduction of their new E-Chem pages within the site. After the configuration of META tags and the creation of the preferred content files, we were ready for the site to be submitted. Upon completion of the first phase of the Oneupweb optimization, HSSSI received an outline of their submission schedule and maintenance plan for the next 12 months.

Results

Mary Fiedler and HSSSI have found great success with their Oneupweb plan. A major dynamic contributing to their success was the acquisition of a second Yahoo and Looksmart listing for HSSSI to help launch their new E-Chem division. In just 30 days we have seen a great start in most of the major engines, Space Systems International is very pleased with the direction that the site is going. The initial increase in site visits has delivered more qualified visitors and product sales, giving HSSSI the edge they were looking for amid stiff competition.
