EPC Services
Among the many accomplishments for VeriSigns EPC/RFID business in 2004, we are especially excited to have been selected by EPCglobal to manage the Root ONS registry for the EPCglobal Network. This directory facilitates next-generation supply chain processes by providing real-time access to sensory-level data for individual products across a network of trading relationships using the electronic product code (EPC). In September 2004, VeriSign announced the availability of the EPC Starter Service, a bundle of network services that helps companies target multi-enterprise process opportunities. We worked closely with EPCglobal, Wal-Mart, Procter & Gamble and Gillette to demonstrate business improvement scenarios based on network-oriented processes that leverage RFID sensory data.
Through the acquisition of R4 Global Solutions, VeriSign delivers comprehensive services from RFID implementation, to strategic consulting around business process evolution, to enhanced trading partner collaboration through supply chain data sharing. VeriSign's consulting services provide end-to-end support for customers looking to RFID-enable their supply chains.
VeriSign maintains two RFID testing and engineering centers in San Francisco (3,500 sq ft) and in Dallas (5,000 sq ft) which include conveyors, dock doors, pallet movers, etc., to emulate production environments from receiving through the POS at a retail store. The centers provide an ideal space for learning about the challenges and opportunities VeriSign has seen in work with several leading manufacturers and retailers, and to facilitate strategic discussions on the long-term impact RFID can have on business processes.
