ShareASale have officially announced the release of the first sections of their new affiliate API. The new API Manager provides access to a bunch of new reports that can now be automated, thus freeing up vast amounts of time every day that can be devoted to playing Plants vs Zombies.

AdSense Link Units – Now With Added Display Ads!

As Google seeks out news ways to maximize revenues during the downturn, they are leaving no stone unturned. On Tuesday they announced that the dedicated ad pages to which AdSense link units connect will now carry a display ad at the foot of the page. This means that the classic “ten blue links” of a SERP is now augmented with a contextually related image ad:

Widget Your Way to Social Media Success

Google’s I/O event kicked-off yesterday (a soccer related metaphor for those of us still mourning the result of yesterday’s Champion’s League Final) with an announcement of a new set of social media widgets: Google Web Elements.

These new widgets allow publishers to easily add Google’s most popular products such as Maps, Calendar and Search, to web pages without having to delve into the Google API.

With effect from June 15th, they will allow certain categories of advertisers to not just buy keywords containing trademarked terms, but also to include those trademarks in their advertisement text.

Internet Tax Dead In MN?

There is good news from Minnesota it seems, with an announcement that HF2323 – the Minnesota Internet tax bill – has failed to pass. There’s not much detail available at the time of this writing so it’s not quite certain whether this means that the Internet tax element has been stripped out of the Omnibus Bill, or if the entire bill has gone back for redrafting and brought forward again later.
